Nollywood veteran Kanayo O. Kanayo has stirred debate after stating that wealthy Nigerians are more willing to risk capital and invest in businesses than their Ghanaian counterparts.
Celebrated Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has sparked intense online debate following comments comparing the investment mindsets and risk appetites of wealthy individuals in Nigeria and Ghana.
Speaking during a visit to the historic stilt village of Nzulezu in the Western Region, the veteran actor claimed that Nigeria boasts a higher concentration of wealthy individuals who are actively willing to take big financial risks, invest in emerging ventures, and support business opportunities. Contrastingly, Kanayo shared his view that wealthy Ghanaians generally lack a similar drive when it comes to taking bold financial risks and backing commercial initiatives.
The Nigerian film icon made the controversial observations while on location for “A Journey to Africa,” an upcoming epic movie project produced by popular Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah LilWin. Kanayo is currently featured as part of the star-studded cast filming across various cultural landmarks in Ghana.
His remarks have since triggered mixed reactions across social media platforms, with critics questioning his assessment of Ghanaian investors, while others argue that his statements highlight real differences in corporate funding and venture capital culture between the two West African nations.
