Blackstar Experience Unveils Spectacular Two-Day Event in Accra and Akosombo!

The Blackstar Experience Secretariat has officially announced plans to host a major two-day national fashion celebration this November, featuring a high-level industry summit alongside an exclusive Presidential Runway event.

Dubbed 'Blackstar Fashion Week', the two-part event will take place across dual venues in Accra and Akosombo.The national fashion summit will kick off on November 4, 2026, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, bringing together key industry players.

The main showcase, the Presidential Runway, will follow on November 7, 2026, at the Royal Senchi Resort in Akosombo.

Rex Owusu Marfo, Coordinator of the Blackstar Experience, unveiled the plans during an appearance on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz on Monday, October 5, 2026. Fashion is the biggest sector in Ghana's creative industry, so we created this two-day fashion week," Rex Omar explained.

He revealed that a steering committee of industry professionals, chaired by renowned designer Joyce Ababio, is managing technical details.

To boost regional tourism, organizers are collaborating with the Ghana Tourism Authority to host outdoor activities such as hiking and quad biking. Discounted hotel rates will also be provided for participants booking through the official Secretariat.

Centered around the theme 'Put Ghana On', the summit aims to promote local designs domestically and internationally.

The initiative operates under the government's flagship Blackstar Experience program, launched on May 1, 2025, to celebrate Ghanaian culture, arts, and creative industries year-round.
