“Stop Teaching Kudus How to Pass!” — Top Coach Sends Warning to GFA Over Black Stars Job

Former Dreams FC coach Ignatius Osei Fosu urges the GFA to hire a coach who can inspire stars like Mohammed Kudus and Antoine Semenyo rather than teaching basic tactics.

Former Dreams FC coach Ignatius Osei Fosu has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to prioritize leadership and personal inspiration in their search for the next Black Stars head coach.

Speaking on the qualities needed to lead the national team, Osei Fosu argued that the search must go beyond mere tactical credentials to focus on personality and motivational ability.

He noted that given the elite talent within Ghana's squad, the incoming manager should not spend time teaching basic football concepts, but should instead focus on inspiring players to execute game plans effectively.

According to Osei Fosu, elite international players already possess the necessary technical foundation and tactical awareness required at the highest level.

"I think they have to be appointing a coach who can inspire the players to play," he stated.

Pointing to key national team stars, Osei Fosu emphasized that top-tier professionals require strong motivation rather than basic instruction.

"Nobody in the world is now going to teach Semenyo how to make forward runs. Nobody is going to teach Kudus how to make a forward pass. It is about how you inspire them to play," he explained.

He further stressed that tactical instructions alone cannot guarantee a player's effort or commitment during a match.

"If a player doesn't want to run, no matter how much you have taught him where to run to, he will not make the run," Osei Fosu added.

"But if a player is willing to make the run, even if you have not taught him, he will make a very good run."

The outspoken coach concluded that inspiration can be delivered through various channels, including innovative training drills, tactical setups, and strong interpersonal relationships with the players.
