Aduana FC boss claims the GH¢1m disbursed to Ghana Premier League clubs was a GFA loan

Aduana FC boss Takyi Arhin claims the GH¢1m disbursed to Ghana Premier League clubs was a GFA loan, not a government grant.

General Manager of Aduana FC, Takyi Arhin, has made a startling claim regarding the financial package disbursed to Ghana Premier League clubs ahead of the 2026/27 season.

He clarified that the GH¢1 million allocated to each of the 18 top-flight clubs was not a direct financial grant from the government.

Speaking on Sporty FM, Arhin revealed that the money was actually a commercial loan secured by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and facilitated by government authorities.

"The GH¢1 million given to each Ghana Premier League club was not given to us by the government," Arhin stated during the broadcast.

He added that the GFA holds the sole responsibility of paying back the entire loan amount to the lending institution.

The funding package was originally introduced to provide vital financial stability and assist clubs with operational expenses ahead of the campaign kick-off.

Public speculation had previously suggested that the state provided the multi-million cedi injection as direct financial support for local football development.

However, Arhin's disclosure sheds new light on the true financial framework behind the pre-season disbursements.

The revelation has sparked intense discussion among football administrators, club owners, and supporters regarding the long-term financial commitments of the football governing body.

Neither the Ghana Football Association nor government sports officials have publicly disputed Arhin’s claims regarding the loan arrangement.
