Public Accounts Committee steps down special audit reports on Ghana's Washington, D.C. Embassy and the 13th African Games following official withdrawals by the Auditor-General.
Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has stepped down two high-profile special audit reports examining financial irregularities at Ghana's Embassy in Washington, DC, and the 13th All African Games.
The announcement was made at Parliament House on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, as the committee kicked off public hearings into the Auditor-General's reports covering 2025 financial infractions.
Committee Chairperson Abena Osei-Asare explained that both special reports were officially withdrawn by the Auditor-General and will not be considered during the current series of sittings.

"The special audit report on the Embassy of Ghana in Washington, DC, covering 2017 to 2025 will not be considered in these sittings," Ms. Osei-Asare confirmed.
Regarding the 13th All African Games, the Chairperson noted that a parallel decision was reached after a preliminary debriefing session with the Auditor-General's office.
"Again, the report on the 13th All African Games was also stepped down during our debriefing with the Auditor-General," she stated.
Ms. Osei-Asare clarified that stepping down the reports does not signal an end to the inquiries, reassuring the public that the committee will scrutinize both matters once the Auditor-General resubmits them to Parliament.
"We will not be looking at these two reports until they are brought back to us again," she
