PAC Orders Ho Municipal Officials to Refund GH¢138k in Missing State Funds

Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee orders Ho Assembly bosses to refund GH¢138,000 following serious revenue infractions flagged in the Auditor-General's report.

Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has directed the Coordinating Director, Finance Officer, and Revenue Superintendent of the Ho Municipal Assembly to refund GH¢138,000 in uncounted state revenue.

The stern order was handed down on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, when management officials of the Assembly appeared before the committee at Parliament House in Accra to answer for financial infractions cited in the Auditor-General's latest report.

Committee members expressed deep concern over the Assembly's failure to properly account for internally generated revenue, labeling the lapse a direct breach of public financial management regulations.

Lawmakers on the committee stressed that public officers tasked with managing state resources must face strict accountability for financial mismanagement.

The committee subsequently ordered the three officials to ensure the full amount is paid back into state coffers within a specified timeframe.

The hearing forms part of PAC's ongoing nationwide public scrutiny into the financial books and audited accounts of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
