NDC Chief Drops Shocking Confession Over Manhyia South MP’s EOCO Arrest

NDC Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Gbande admits telling the EOCO boss to arrest Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah for defying official invitations.

NDC Deputy General Secretary, Mustapha Gbande, has openly admitted that he personally instructed the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to arrest Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.

Speaking in an interview on JoyNews Pulse, Gbande rejected claims that the arrest was motivated by political targeting or Baffour Awuah's legal representation of senior nursing officer Salomey Awiti-Baffoe.

"I told him to arrest him. I wouldn't lie about it," Gbande boldly declared.

"I met the EOCO boss; I told him to arrest the guy. Let the whole world come to an end. Arrest him."

He explained that his directive stemmed strictly from a law enforcement and security perspective, insisting that no citizen or politician should consider themselves above state institutions.

Gbande argued that defying an official invitation from a security agency and daring authorities to arrest you sets a dangerous precedent that undermines rule of law.

He emphasized that anyone summoned over an alleged offense must cooperate with legal processes rather than organize media briefings to challenge state authority.

"Never should I sit anywhere and say that because I am a deputy general secretary of a party, I am bigger than the laws of Ghana," Gbande stated.

He concluded that Baffour Awuah should have simply honored the invitation, provided his statement to investigators, and allowed legal procedures to take their natural course.
