Mahama Ayariga Challenges Government to Repair Current Crisis Before Pushing 'New Economy'

Parliamentary Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga calls on banks to fund public infrastructure while urging government to fix existing economic bottlenecks before launching new programs.

Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has called on banks and financial institutions to step up and fund the improvement of public spaces rather than leaving municipal development entirely to the state.

He emphasized that the private sector, particularly the banking industry, has a duty to help transform the physical appearance and functionality of the local communities where they operate.

Mr. Ayariga made the comments while advocating for stronger public-private partnerships to address urgent developmental challenges across the country.

He argued that because financial institutions generate significant revenue within local communities, they have an obligation to reinvest in enhancing those environments.

The Majority Leader rejected the notion that physical development is solely the burden of the state, insisting that commercial enterprises must actively contribute to building national infrastructure.

His remarks come amid intense public debate surrounding the government's plans to roll out sweeping initiatives under its proposed economic transformation agenda.

While acknowledging the need for progress, Mr. Ayariga cautioned policymakers against abandoning unresolved foundational problems in favor of launching new programs.

He stressed that state authorities must focus heavily on repairing and strengthening existing economic systems before expecting new macroeconomic frameworks to deliver results.
