Newly elected NPP Second Vice Chairman Henry Nana Boakye denies snubbing the executive inauguration, explaining he left the venue briefly to freshen up before results were declared.
Newly elected Second Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has strongly denied allegations that he deliberately boycotted the official swearing-in ceremony of the party’s newly elected national executive team.
Speaking during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen flagship afternoon show, Nana B clarified that he had zero intention of avoiding the inauguration proceedings.
He explained that after standing on his feet throughout the entire voting and counting process at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, he took a brief break to freshen up before the final declaration of results.
Unbeknownst to him, the Electoral Commission concluded the tabulation and formal declaration much faster than anticipated.
"It was never my intention to miss the swearing-in of the national executives," Nana B stated.
"I went home to freshen up before the final declaration. Sadly, before I realized it, the EC had already declared the results, and by the time I got there, the entire process was over."
He emphasized that he had remained at the stadium continuously through the voting period and only stepped away once ballot casting had officially concluded.
"I was on my feet throughout the election, so after the election, I wanted to go and clean up and come back. I didn't know the process would be that fast," he explained.
"Before I realized, they were done mentioning the winners and announcing the results. So I hurriedly got back to the stadium, then I got information that they were done with the process."
Addressing rumors surrounding his absence, Nana B urged party faithful to disregard speculative narratives, reaffirming his deep commitment to the NPP leadership.
He expressed sincere appreciation to party delegates for their overwhelming endorsement, describing his election as a reward for his years of dedicated service to the party.
"I am glad that my years of hard work in the party, the party still believes in me to make me a national vice chairman," he noted.
"I am humbled that the delegates still believe in my capabilities and voted for me."
Nana B secured the Second Vice Chairman position after polling 3,061 votes at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
He serves alongside Kojo Fosu Boadu (Kojo Bamba), who won the First Vice Chairman slot with 3,116 votes, and Nana Akomea, who was elected Third Vice Chairman
