Newly elected Third Vice Chairman Nana Akomea has described Kojo Bamba’s campaign strategy as "clever" following his surprise election victory.
Newly elected Third Vice Chairperson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea, has reacted to the major election upset delivered by Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba.
Bamba defied expectations during the party's National Delegates Conference in Kumasi, emerging as First Vice Chairman after securing a massive 3,116 votes.
Speaking on the outcome, Akomea praised Bamba's political execution, describing his campaign strategy and core messaging as "clever, very clever".
He noted that Bamba successfully distinguished himself from the rest of the field by offering a distinct, grassroots-oriented narrative that resonated deeply with voters.
Prior to the polls, independent surveys had projected experienced national figures like Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid and Akomea as frontrunners for the vice-chairmanship positions.
However, Bamba’s strategic campaign enabled him to surge past established political heavyweights and claim the top vice-chairmanship slot.
Akomea explained that while many candidates relied on traditional messaging, Bamba’s campaign focused directly on grassroots empowerment and youthful energy.
He acknowledged that the delegates clearly favored a candidate who demonstrated a direct connection to the party's base.
Reflecting on his own third-place finish with 2,987 votes, Akomea expressed gratitude to delegates for placing their trust in him despite the fierce competition.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working alongside Bamba, Second Vice Chairman Henry Nana Boakye, and National Chairman John Boadu to build a formidable unit for 2028.
