Choral groups across Ghana prepare to compete at regional and national levels under a major new initiative by the Black Star Experience Secretariat.
Choral groups across Ghana are set to battle for ultimate national honors following the launch of the National Choral Music Contest by the Black Star Experience Secretariat.
The nationwide competition will commence at the regional level, bringing together vocal ensembles from schools, churches, tertiary institutions, and local communities.
Winning groups from each region will earn the coveted opportunity to represent their territories at the grand national finals in Accra.
Introduced during a series of regional creative stakeholder engagements, the contest serves as a flagship project under the Music Pillar of the Black Star Experience.
The initiative is designed to discover, nurture, and showcase emerging choral talent while offering performers mentorship, professional development, and major public exposure.
A central objective of the contest is to honor Ghana's rich choral tradition and musical heritage.
Organizers emphasize that the competition will foster deeper appreciation for indigenous compositions while encouraging creative innovation among contemporary arrangers.
Beyond the singers, the Secretariat noted that the project will unlock economic and professional opportunities for composers, conductors, music educators, sound engineers, and event planners.
The announcement forms a key part of the Secretariat's broader outreach campaign, held under the theme, "Enhancing National Understanding and Ownership of the Black Star Experience."
By bringing together diverse participants from across all regions, the nationwide contest aims to leverage music as a powerful tool for cultural exchange and national cohesion.
