The Accra Metropolitan Assembly has covered the GH¢38,656 surgery bill for an injured sanitation worker at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to employee welfare by stepping in to cover the full medical costs for an injured sanitation worker.
Accra Mayor Michael Kpakpo Allotey led a delegation from the Assembly to visit the worker, Cynthia Yeboah, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
During the hospital visit, the Assembly paid GH¢38,656 directly to cover the complete cost of surgery required for Ms. Yeboah's recovery.
The sanitation worker sustained severe injuries during an on-duty accident that occurred on September 16, 2026.
Speaking at the hospital, Mayor Allotey assured Ms. Yeboah of continued institutional backing throughout her ongoing treatment and physical rehabilitation process.
He emphasized that under current management, the local assembly prioritizes the safety, health, and general welfare of its frontline workforce during emergencies.
"The old AMA isn't the new AMA. The new AMA pays for and takes care of its people," Mayor Allotey declared during the presentation.
The Mayor expressed confidence that the scheduled surgical procedure would prove successful and enable the worker to fully regain her health.
Ms. Yeboah and her family expressed profound gratitude to the Mayor and assembly management for taking financial responsibility for her medical care.
Assembly authorities confirmed that administrative representatives will maintain close monitoring of her medical progress following the surgery.
